So then, a months passed since we announced the competition and since then you lot have been glued to your mac’s (or any other brand of puter) creating some sick, sick, sick in the mouth artwork. In total we had 83 designs in for our judging panel to trawl through. All entries were varying styles and skill levels but all looked like the artist had put there soul into a final piece they were proud with.
Picking 12 finalists was tricky, and narrowing it down to showcasing 10 runners up was equally hard but at the end of the day the 2 winners pretty much jumped out from the start.
Wining Designs
So congratulations to Jack & Mac ( Jack Wells and Tom Mac) and Chris of Kill Studio, there respective designs will be appearing on there own AnyForty tee’s from here in mid October!
Both are actually very similar as both designers have gone to the effort of creating custom type for the sports team, and the level of detail in each design in astounding, we also liked the way both illustrations had the same turquoise highlight colour, felt like they were meant to be printed out together as part of a set. So checkout below the winning artwork and beneath that we’ve some comments from some of our AnyForty fam letting you know what they liked about them followed by pics of the 10 runners up! We’re sorry we can’t put each and every entry we had up, there’s just too many and at this moment we don’t have enough hours in the day 😦 Thanks to everyone who entered though. As a show of our gratitude we’ll email each and every one of you a heavy discount code!

“For me, they won because of the attention to detail on both pieces, the line thicknesses and the composition, it all works together seamlessly. Most importantly, it looks like it would work on the front of a basketball jersey in the NBA, so the brief has been well & truly fulfilled!”
Hydro 74
“I’m impressed with the level of detail and quality with the hair & highlights in the Grizzlies design. It’s rare to see someone have a good balance without making it ungodly vector mush of random points. Color choices are solid and dig it. On the Devil piece again great color choices and detail in the work. Love the small details in the illustration. Think the typography is perfect and has that custom feel as well as gives it a nice balance.”
Waste Studio
“The Grizzlies design really nice use of a limited colour palette the shadow and highlighting detail works a treat. Only crit is not sure about the roundness of the bear head would of worked nice if the bottom section went into a ‘v’ shape.
And the Terrors design, Love the use of the black tee colour within the design really great use of a free colour. Also the type works great the design is very well balanced and love the gradient on the flame..nice work!”
MegaMunden
“Really like the type on the Grizzlies design, the illustrated typography approach is super nice. The bear itself is also a tidy vector artwork, I like the two tone detailing.Well done!
Regarding the Terrors piece, Super nice vampire character and the expression on his face is great. I like the highlights in his hair and the pink eyes, works really nicely. Type also suits the piece!”
Steven Bonner
“Grizzlies was the pick of the bunch for me, good use of limited colours, great type and the fuzzy, hairy feeling works really well. This bad boy looks like he’s gonna rip you a new one…The one thing that jumped out of the other winning design was the little devil in Terrors has a right sneaky look about him. Nice variation of line and a smart use of the colours make this one stand out.”
Runners Up Designs
Like we said we had 83 entries in total and we had a real mission narrowing them down to the finalists, some designs weren’t as polished as others but some had amazing ideas behind them and vice versa, some were brilliantly drawn but the ideas behind them just weren’t quite there. Congratulations to all the runners up, check them all out below, great job guys!
